Lesson 9: Risk Management – Minimum Recovery Distance

What is Minimum Recovery Distance?
The Minimum Recovery Distance is the minimum number of pips that must pass between the current price and the previous order before the EA places a recovery trade. This setting prevents recovery orders from being placed too close together, helping reduce the risk of over-trading.

How It Works in the EA
The EA will only place a recovery order if:

  • There is a valid trade signal, and

  • The price has moved farther than the minimum distance set in the EA.

  • Example: If the Minimum Recovery Distance is set to 20 pips, the EA will only place a new recovery trade after the market has moved at least 20 pips away from the last order.

Why Use a Minimum Recovery Distance?
Using a Minimum Recovery Distance helps avoid over-trading by spacing out recovery orders. This improves your chances of a successful recovery while managing risk effectively, as trades are only placed when the market has moved significantly.
